Science: Food test

Aim: To see if different foods have simple sugars, complex sugars or protein in it.

Hypothesis: I think that glucose will have simple sugars and apple will have protein also I think bread will have simple sugars I think that potato will have complex sugars, egg will have protein and milk will have complex. here is an easier way to look at it

Guess:
---------------------
Glucose- Simple
Apple- Protein
Bread- Simple
Potato- Complex
Egg- Protein
Milk- Complex

Method:
1. Place about 2mL of the sample in the test tube
2. Add 3-5 drops of iodine and mix

Equipment:
-Test tube, food sample, iodine solution

Results: If complex sugars are present the iodine solution will change
from a brown colour to a blue/black colour.

Answer:
------------------
Glucose- Complex
Apple- Complex
Bread- Complex
Potato- Complex
Egg- Complex
Milk- Complex

How to improve your wellbeing!

There are four dimensions and they are called, Taha Tinana your physical wellbeing, Taha
Whanau your relationships with others, Taha Wairua your spiritual wellbeing and Taha
hinengaro your social wellbeing.

How to improve your Taha Tinana, your physical well being is by eating healthy food like
vegetables and fruits, training and exercise everyday, drink water and by keeping healthy.
If you keep healthy you will be fit and in good shape. If you don't eat healthy, drink water,
train and keep healthy then you will not be a healthy person and fatness reflects to your body.

How to improve your Taha Whanau, your relationship with others, is by respecting them
and being kind to them, also if you do that to them all the time then they would think your a
nice person and they would be your friend also they would do the same back. If you don't
be kind or respect your relationships then they wouldn't like you and think terrible things
about you and also not be kind or respectful to you.

How to prove your Taha Wairua is by your community and Wairua means being in touch
with the spiritual side of life. It is the capacity to have faith, and to understand the links
between people and the environment. It doesn’t necessarily mean having a religious belief,
although for many people this is an important part of their spirituality.

How to improve your Taha hinengaro is by turning people's bad feelings into good feelings
and it is having the capacity to think critically and be able to acknowledge and express
thoughts and feelings constructively. To be able to understand and manage your emotions.

Also if you do that to every person around the world then the world will be filled with happiness
and will be doing good things. If you don't turn people into happiness then the world will be filled
with badness instead of happiness.

If You keep all your four dimensions healthy and safe then you will have a happy,
awesome, amazing, incredible and the best wellbeing.

What is Whare Tapa wha?

Te Whare Tapa Wha compares health to the four walls of a house where all four walls are necessary to
ensure strength and symmetry.

Self Directed Learners

In the self directed learner's task I had to set myself some goals for me to accomplish.
The green means what I have achieved and the yellow is what I need to achieve.

Apocalyptic Collaborative Writing

Man vs Machine

1. It was man versing machine in a giant war.

2. It was a terrifying fight with both men and machines fighting their way to victory in a war.

3. It was a terrifying fight with both man and machine they were both fighting their way to victory the fight is like a tiger and a lion having a fight
to the death.

4. It was a humongous fight with both man and machine fighting to the death like a lion would to
claim its place as a pride leader both man and machine were fighting their way to victory.

5. It was a humongous fight in France with both man and machine fighting to
the death like a lion would to claim its place as a pride leader. Lots of tears began
as some soldiers and teammates lost their lives both teams were furious. Side by
side the teams collided and fought their way to victory.

6. A war was ready both men and machines grew their teams to get ready to
collide with the opposite team, and only one team would take the victory. It was
a humongous fight in France with the Eiffle tower barely standing, with both man
and machine fighting to the death like a lion would claim its place as a pride leader.

Lots of tears began as some soldiers and teammates lost their life.
Both teams were furious and full of anger. Side by side the teams collided
and tried their best to fight their way to victory.

      Show of Emotions-Hurumanu

Today in drama we have been given a slideshow with two videos, we were told to watch them both and see what emotions they show. One of them was Mr bean acted by Rowan Atkinson, we had to explain what emotions they show and how we see them like body language, face expression and gestures.

Here is the video for Mr bean...

So what expressions did he show: So this is a classic comedy tv-series, so the emotions he showed at the very start was him being happyabout the things that were going on around him and the way I knew was that he was smiling, as he sat down he saw a man with his breakfast. Mr Bean(Rowan Atkinson) saw the man feasting on his sandwich and decided to bring a whole supermarket in his pocket. When I said supermarket I meant that he brought butter, big loaf of bread, lettuce and etc. Even a hot water bag to make his tea. He felt worried at first and then sooner or later felt happy because he can have breakfast too.

When he was about to bite into his sandwich, he accidentally sniffed in the black pepper and then once he had the sandwich up to his nose, he sneezed into his sandwich and his tea went everywhere. That made him sad and depressed until the man offered him one of his sandwiches. He was happy again but still sad because he did not have tea.

      Here is the second video...

So what expressions did he show: So surprisingly I did not know that this is Johnny Depp at a young age,

      Hurumanu-Renewable Energy

Aim: To make a presentation that investigates different renewable energy's.

      1. Hydro Energy - The Energy is generated through hydropower depends on the water cycle which is operated by the sun, this makes it a renewable power source making it a more reliable source other than fossil fuels that are quickly being wasted.

      2. Solar Energy - Solar Energy is luminous light and heat from the sun that is harnessed using a reach of technologies such as solar heating & Solar Panels. It is a renewable resource,
it is obtained from the sun's rays. Solar energy is transformed immediately to electricity through a solar photovoltaic panel. Solar rays are collected off reflective surfaces and heats an object to process it that creates solar thermal energy.

      3. Wind Energy - Wind Power or Wind Energy is operated by the wind to provide it to function and make power through wind turbines to turn electric generators, it can do other work like milling or pumping. Wind power is sustainable and renewable energy and has a much smaller impact on the environment compared to burning fossil fuels.

      4. Wave Energy - Wave power is generated by the up and down motion of floating devices placed on the surface of the ocean, Let's say that wind produces waves and waves produce energy, it is also renewable energy. As the waves travel across the ocean, very high-tech devices capture the physical movements of the ocean currents and the flow to generate power.
This energy can be used to run turbines and there are plenty of places where the winds are strong enough to produce continuous wave movements or motions.

      1. Type: Hydro
      2. Is it used in NZ ? Hydropower is used in New Zealand
      3. Other Countries that use it?
      4. How is it used to generate electricity?
      5. Draw and label a diagram of the main parts of the electricity generator? This can be done on paper and uploaded or on a drawing program on your device. I do not want any Internet images or pictures. They must be hand-drawn using a ruler and labelled.

Section 4: Renewable Energy in the future.

List 10 ways that renewable energy will be used in the future to replace our current activities.
