Aim: To learn about Mars exploration.
1. Rover facts
2. Design, Draw and Make a Rover
3. Mars facts
1. Rover facts:
Fill in the table below.
Name: Kaedun
|
Purpose:
|
Wheels
| 6 to make it move all ways possible and to make it go over the rocks because it needs to get through everything in its path and also each 6 wheels have it's own motor. The two front and two rear wheels has individual steering motors. |
Solar Panel
| 1 Without power, the rover cannot move or communicate with people on earth. The power source is called "Multi-Mission Radioisotope Thermoelectric Generator" the electricity in the rover is like fuel for the rover to help it do everything it can do. |
Laser
| 1 the laser is part of the cameras and a laser and a camera search for organics and minerals that have been altered by watery environments and may be signs of past microbial life. But it also uses a macro camera to take extreme close-ups of the areas that are studied by scientists. |
Camera
| 1 the camera on the rover help the people on earth see what the rover is seeing without the camera on the rover there would be no point in the rover even being there, with the camera you can collect samples and you can find out more things about that planet. |
Shovel, rock pick,drill
| 1 The shovel on the rover can dig to find more facts about mars and its life form the drill helps the rover get through hard rock or stone and the pick can pick up items and find out more about it for the scientists on earth. |
2. In groups of 3 you will Design, Draw and Make a Mars Rover out of Lego Technics.
Materials:
Materials:
