S-
It was lonely at the wildest and we did a silent movie
E-
Props: Cowboy Hats & fake hair, Shovel and drinks
Scene: in a bar/wildest
X-
We were drinking and some groups had guns involved in the play.
Y-
I felt hurt, excited, happy and nervous
Today we created a scene/ silent movie and my group was Josh, Alex and Tyler in our scene we tried to make it feel like we were at the wild west and someone wanted money, so they killed me and Tyler and then Josh came along stole our stuff then just walked away smacking me in the bum... In the play Josh basically hired Alex to shoot us and he was a bar owner so he filled our beers and then betrayed us, and that's basically how our silent movie went
I am a student at in Uru Mānuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Baseball
Today we played softball with no T- because with a T- it makes it T-ball, anyways we played it, we had even teams and the object of the game is to hit the ball with a bat before the player tries to run around the field with four bases. Once a player manages to get right round without being given out a run is scored. The team with the most runs at the end of the game is crowned the winner.
The rules of Softball is that each team should contain 9 players and if you hit the ball far and manage to run around all the bases in one run means it's a home run, if the opposing team catches the ball when in the air your out and if they get the ball/when then they touch you while running your out, there are three outs and three bases. If you hit the ball behind you thats a strike three strikes then you have to run.
Equipment: You need a baseball a baseball bat, four bases, Gloves/depends on how hard the ball is.
you set the bases up in in a diamond shape on one of them you need the batter to stay and behind the batter there is another person just to get the ball if it goes out/backstop well once you set them up in a diamond shape you need someone at all corners except for the batters one and then just get the fielders to put on gloves then go off and start your game... Have fun

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
In the scene where Auggie cries to his mother about being bullied, color and lighting is used to create an atmosphere of sympathy. We see this through the use of warm and dull colors in the shot. These make the space feel warm and comfotable for Auggie to express his emotions. This makes us understand how Auggie is feeling, Miserable oppressed and depressed because he looks different from his peers. He asks his mum,"Will it always matter" which is a feeling most in the audience can relate too. This was done to show the theme, the importance of friendship and family, because Auggie earns resilience by talking issues through with his mum. Combined with this is the use of close-up shots to show the emotions and tears on Auggies face. This reminds the viewer of a moment later in the story where Auggie us upset the viewer of a moment later in the story where Auggie is upset because his sister Via doesn't want him to go to her play. Just like this scene, Auggie runs out to his room upset and a member of his family comes to reassure him

Workshop 2
Shot 1: Jack and Julien are fighting because Jack has chosen to stand up to Julien after he called Auggie a freak
Shots/angles- Dutch tilt - something is wrong
Low angle- Makes person ontop look stronger and person on bottom look weak and vulnerable- Julien
Viewers reaction- Shocked concerned, worried, suprised
-Jack had never stood up for Auggie before
-Jack usually agrees with Julien
Directors purpose- close up used to make us feel part of the fight, see the characters emotions and reactions
-uses techniques to build our concern/shock
Other techniques-Slow motion- used to show us the details in the fight- too fast otherwise
Music-minor, slow tempo, dynamics increase from quiet to help us focus and create the atmosphere
SEXXXY Paragraph-
S- In the fight scene between Julien and Jack, camera angles are used effectively to draw the viewer into the scene. E- This is demonstrated through the use of low angles, close ups and dutch tilt shots. The low angle shot makes Jack look stronger and more aggressive, whilst Julien looks weak and vulnerable below him. X- This makes the audience feel concerned shocked and surprised because up till this point Jack has always agreed with Julien.X- The director did this to draw the viewer into the event and highlight Jacks struggle to choose between being right or being popular.X- Combined with this is the use of slow motion and music which helps us to see details on the characters faces and recognize their emotional reactions. Y-This can be compared to the use of close-up shots at the start of the film when we first meet August. They are both used to show us a small part of a bigger moment.

Workshop 1:Unpacking the themes and Ideas
Kindness- A verbal or physical action that is nice, Caring, Using manners, Respect
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
-Example
-When Jack sticks up for Auggie during the fight scene
-Shows kindness-sticking up for a friend
-Not letting others talk badly about friends
-Jack has previously not been kind, talked about Auggie behind his back.
-Important because
-helps make friends
-Builds a persons self confidence
-Makes people feel accepted/included
-if there wasn't kindness Auggie wouldn't have made any friends ,grown his self confidence
to be able to take off his helmet, feel included at beaker prep
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Importance of Family & Friendship-Trust, trust of others, support systems, people you feel safe with, help build resilience

The fight at the nature reserve where Amos and the guys come together to rescue Jack and Auggie from the 7th graders
-Shows theme
-Support because they stand up for each other
-Trust-the boys come to help them, they don't abandon each other
-Resilience-the boys support each other to move forward, they are all friends now.

-His friendship with Summer teaches him resilience, trust and forgiveness.
-His family are always there to support him when things are wrong at school.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Struggle between right and popular-
-Being right means showing integrity-doing the right thing even when no one is watching.
-Being popular means agreeing with / acting in a way others want you to, even when you don't agree.
Example 1-
-When Jack chose to sit with Auggie as his science partner instead of Julien.
-Show theme- Jack chose right over popular. Julien wanted to leave Auggie out and Jack chose not to.
-In the past Jack had picked friendship with Julien over Auggie.
Example 2-
-When Summer decides to sit with Auggie instead of the popular girls who were talking behind Auggies back.
Shows theme-
-Summer chose right- not to sit and talk nasty with her friends, but to go and sit with Auggie who was alone
-Auggie doesn't trust her a first because of Jack.
-Summer stays anyways and helps Auggie-links to importance of friendship
Importance of the story-
-The concept is relatable, everyone has to experience this so it helps the viewer to engage with the story.
-Makes kindness and relationships more obvious once we see a person struggle.

Health reflection
Health-
Last week we did games of all sorts for health we did games like making a cup tower by pulling strings and bouncing ping pong balls into cups... My favorite game that we did was when me and Zack paired up in a team to throw a water balloon to each other this is how the game goes: you need to get a partner and need a water balloon first you need to go as close as you can then you need to throw it to each other five times back and fourth then once you do that you take a step backwards and then continue. Me and Zack got all across the court and if we dropped it we needed to stop where we are, Me and Zack caught every single throw and we won, we didn't fail but in the middle of it someone broke our balloon and so we needed to get a new one but it was a baby one as small as a tooth basically but a little bit bigger... we couldn't stop but then we had to go inside and we had to purposely break the balloon, that game was the most fun game that we played that day.

Athletics
Sprints-
Last week we ran 1,500 meters. It was tiring and exhausting but our time was pretty decent. I got 8 mins 10 secs which was alright. We found it hard but we will improve in the future.
Shot put-
In shot put i got 12.15 meters witch is good, it was pretty easy since I love doing shot put the most out of all of them but i did it and im practicing for tomorrow witch is athletics day.
Long jump-
In long jump we had a few practices at the start and then i had my real go the girls were on one end and the boys were at the other, i tried at first and got 5.4 meters than i tried my second time and got 6.9 after that i tried and tried to get seven and then i eventually did.
High jump-
When i tried high jump it was pretty hard but i did it and i felt good i made it up to 2.6 meters up and that was good for me i didn't keep on trying anyway it was a smart idea if i did because i could have bet my score
Sprints-
In sprints i had to race challenging people like Tj and it was 100 meters i thought i would loose because they were really quick but i put myself up to the test, handed my watch to Zack and then i ran and surprisingly i won, i was shocked and happy
