I am a student at in Uru MÄnuka. In 2020 I was a year 9 and in 2021 I will be a year 10. This is a place where I will be able to share my learning with you. Please note....some work won't be edited - just my first drafts, so there may be some surface errors. I would love your feedback, comments, thoughts and ideas.

Particle Theory
2. Particles is always moving
3. Temperature effects how particles move
4. There is always space between particles
5. Forces of attraction hold particles together
6. Types of matter are made out of the same type of particles
Aim-
Seeing if hot or cold water can move particles fastest.
What is diffusion?
Particles moving from high to low concentration In liquids + Gasses
Hypothesis-
I think Hot water would Separate it faster because splitting something up faster is what hot water can do because it spreads it out and cold water would only keep it stuck together because.. take it this way when your in the ice your cold and you move slowly just like particles when it hits coldness And when your hot you are more likely to be active.
Equipment-
Petri dish, Water, Tweezers, A crystal of potassium permanganate.
Method-
1. Half fill your petri dish with cold tap water
2. Place the petri dish on your work bench and allow the water to become settled.
3. Using the Tweezers, place a single crystal of potassium permanganate in the center of the petri dish.
4. Observe for 5 mins
5. Repeat the experiment using Hot water
Observations-
Hot Water- The hot water Spread ed out faster, And Took up the whole space in around 5 mins
Cold Water- The cold water took a long time to Cover up by the time the hot water was finished the cold water was only half way.
Results-
The results were that Hot water is more efficient to spread Particles than cold water When hot water started spreading first it was satisfying because it was forming shapes and when the potassium permanganate eventually got put into the water it started Glowing purple and black and it just looked cool overall

Great work Kaedun! Why did the particles spread out faster in hot water?
