Haiku Poem

What is a Haiku poem?
It is of ancient Japanese origin. It contains 17 syllables in 3 lines of five, seven, five. Haiku poems are typically about nature and usually about a specific season.

Example:

Like crunchy cornflakes
Gold leaves rustle underfoot
Beauty in decay.

Mellow, mild, Mayday,
calling children out to play.
Summer's on her way!

Coolness fills the air
Scarves and sweaters everywhere
Fall weather is here

Calm as a river
Tranquillity in my heart
Blue summer skies reign.

The grandmother plaited her granddaughter's hair and then she said, Get your lunch. Put it in your bag. Get your apple. You come back straight after school, straight home here. Listen to the teacher, she said. "Do what she say?

Her grandfather was out on the step. He walked down the path with her and out on to the footpath. He said to a neighbour, 'Our granddaughter goes to school. She lives with us now. 'She's fine,' the neighbour said. “She's terrific with her two plaits in her hair

'And clever,' the grandfather said. Writes every day in her book! 'She's fine,' the neighbour said.

The grandfather waited with his granddaughter by the crossing and then he said, 'Go to school.
Listen to the teacher. Do what she say

When the granddaughter came home from school her grandfather was hoeing round the cabbages. Her grandmother was picking beans. They stopped their work

'You bring your book home?' the grandmother asked. 'Yes.' 'You write your story?' 'Yes. 'What's your story?' 'About the butterflies 'Get your book, then. Read your story

The granddaughter took her book from her schoolbag and opened itI killed all the butterflies,' she read. This is me and this is all the butterflies

'And your teacher like your story, did she?' 'I don't know. 'What your teacher say?

'She said butterflies are beautiful creatures. They hatch out and fly in the sun. The butterflies visit all the pretty flowers, she said. They lay their eggs and then they die. You don't kill butterflies, that's what she said

The grandmother and grandfather were quiet for a long time, and their granddaughter, holding the book, stood quite still in the warm garden. 'Because you see,' the grandfather said, 'your teacher, she buy all her cabbages from the supermarket and that's why Reflection Section- The Grandaughters' hair got plated by their grandmother and the grandmother told her to "grab her lunch that was already set and go to school after school go straight back home" The grandmother told once she started to leave to "Listen to the teacher" The Grandfather was waiting for his grandaughter out on the step to walk her on the footpath on the way to the granddaughter school, Later they encountered their neighbour and the grandfather was just telling him basically how perfect his granddaughter was. She went to school and was set to a task to write about butterflies. She went back home and saw her grandfather was hoeing

round the cabbages and her grandmother was picking beans. She showed her story to her grandparents and they had a question about her story because she decided to kill the butterflies in the story. Her teacher didn't like her story because it had violence and because the teacher actually liked butterflies. You can understand that people's grammar in this story isn't the best because maybe English isn't their first language and they're probably from a different country.

Custom Creative Writing

                                                                         Hopeless

(Decided to Create a custom story at home based on an image that I found on the web)

The ragged man sits outside a wooden cabin by himself, alone, miserable and exhausted. As he waits in silence, he can hear the leaves rustling in the wind, and the sound of animals in the forest ahead. He can taste the salt from his sweaty face and can smell the old, dusty scent of the cabin. He can hear the thunder far away in the distance and the sound of rain drumming on the roof. Tears stream down his muddy face as he remembers his childhood when he had a loving family to go to and friends that would always be by his side. He had everything, but now, he had nothing.

He tried to think of good memories, good thoughts to keep him happy and motivated, though nothing can change the fact that he lost everything after the incident. He wondered what his son and daughter would have been doing. They would be playing in the backyard, smiling and laughing as they chase each other. His wife would be inside, preparing lunch for them, and the smell of warm blueberry pie would fill the whole house.

The memory fades away and in its place a car wreck on the side of the road. His wife and kids sitting motionless in the passenger seat with their eyes closed, lifeless. How could this have happened? He slowly backs away but accidentally stumbles backwards into the forest, leaves and twigs scratch against his skin.

His eyes snapped open as the sound of thunder brings him back to reality, now it was just him again. But in the distance, a bright light appears and starts coming closer and closer. Was someone trying to find him? Had people noticed he had been missing? He hears voices calling his name, but he is too weak to yell or walk so instead, he nervously waits for their arrival

Spirituals

 Use of Spirituals

The use of Spirituals was the music for the slaves to express themselves and their feelings whether it was sorrow, Joy, inspiration or hope. Songs were passed down from generation to generation throughout the time of slavery. These songs were controlled by African and religious traditions.

Harriet Tubman

Harriet Tubman was a famous slave helper and used songs to get a message through to the slaves and help the African traped slaves to escape the border, they would go through the rivers to remove the scent because dogs could track them down. Thousands of people got saved and became free because of one lady, there were several slave helpers but the most popular was Harriet Tubman because of all of the people that she helped. They Travelled from the south to the north of America, which was the safe part of America because they could be free. The African slaves swore not to return. Harriet Tubman did this over and over again helping many more people.

Spiritual Message (Highlights)

One of the songs that they would sing was "Wade in the Water" Sang by Harriet Tubman to tell escaping slaves to get off the trail and get into the water to make sure the dogs known as (Slave Catchers)  couldn't sniff out their trail. So Basically this song was used to help slaves escape. For the first sentence " Wade in the water, wade in the water children." Wading means walking with the effort inside water or a source of liquid and that means that when Harriet Tubman was leading children to the escape route they walked through the water to escape. In the second line "God's Gonna trouble the water." Gods going to trouble the water meant that the water was a source of healing. One of the lines says "Must be the ones that made it through" that defines the people who actually escaped and survived.

Are These Events Still Significant today?

As you know Racism still is alive today sadly but Abraham Lincoln is the one president that made a change. He informed everyone that all the slaves shall be free forever of their prison, That was ages ago but some people didn't listen and that's why some family generations are still enslaved today.

Listen to Wade in the water-

Wade in the Water, wade in the water children.

Wade in the Water. God’s gonna trouble the water.
Who are those children all dressed in Red?
God’s gonna trouble the water.
Must be the ones that Moses led.
God’s gonna trouble the water.

Who are those children all dressed in White?
God’s gonna trouble the water.
Must be the ones of the Israelites.
God’s gonna trouble the water.

Who are those children all dressed in Blue?
God’s gonna trouble the water.
Must be the ones that made it through.
God’s gonna trouble the water.

Mymaps-  We used googlemymaps.com to create this music through a time loop about the slave trading. This is what my map looks like and the information about the countries involved and all of the three passages connected to this. If you click on the highlighted parts and lines you will see what happened during these times. I decided to include the population and all about the continuous circle of traders, I explained what they traded for the slaves and about Harriet Tubman and the underground tunnel. This was our first time using this site and it is actually useful for describing facts about countries.

Buisness Vocabulary

The Law of Demand There is an inverse relationship between price and quantity demanded For example: When the price goes down for milk the quantity price will increase

Substitution effect

Changes in price motivate consumers to buy relatively cheaper substitutes goods.

Income effect
Changes in price affect the purchasing power of consumers’ income

The Law of diminishing marginal utility
As you continue to consume a given product, you will eventually get less addition utility (satisfaction) from each unit you consume

The 5 Shifters of demand-
Tasted/Preferences
Number of Consumers
Price of related goods
Income
Expectations

Price Changes the Quantity demanded
(Moves along the curve)

The Five Shifters change the demand
(Moves along the entire curve

Normal Goods-
Income and the demand for the product are directly related

Inferior Goods-
Income and the demand for the product are Inversely related

What Happens to the demand for a product when the price decreases?
Demand stays the same but the quantity demanded increases

Favourite Performance: I am Dangerous
Created By: Mohamed Hassan
Poem-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A3fXzGyu8y4&feature=emb_title

This Poem Created by Mohamed Hassan was the best out of them in my opinion because he got a point through and his words and speech were clear and actions were meaningful, he told us that he was dangerous and that he is terror and is the face of evil and described why he is dangerous and I thought that the ways he described it gave it more of a meaning and purpose of why he says he is dangerous.

My First favourite piece or part in this poem was " I'm emotionless, I do not fear, I do not grieve, I do not love, I do not forgive, I am homogeneous, ungodly, unmoving and desiring and deserving of your sympathy" This Speech was one of my favourites because he explains why and how he is dangerous and shows the reason why What I thought about this text as he is dangerous because he fears nobody and does not forgive and shows no emotion. This speech shows pure emotion during the time he says all of it as well he shows not only with words but with actions. You can find this speech at 00.45 on the video.

My Other Favourite Piece in the poem was "
I am dangerous kill me before I self destruct, I'm a time bomb, I am a bomb I am terrible and I'm dangerous" This was another cool part because he related himself to a bomb and all bombs do is destroy and I think that his point that he is trying to get across is that he shows signs of demolitions. I like how he described himself as self-destructing. Altogether I think he cannot control him being dangerous but he is naturally dangerous because he warns us and says " Kill me before I self destruct" In my opinion, this means he doesn't want to try and hurt people but he cannot control himself and his dangerous behaviour.

This is an interesting poem and the actions and his emotions make the poem into the next level. The Type of poems I personally like is the poems that have actions and gets a literal point through and is catchy otherwise they don't seem to be interesting to watch without a tune.

In my perspective on this is that people look at him and think he's dangerous and he describes what people actually say and think about him, This Poem I think made him seem like he is dangerous because of how people looked, treated and thought about him. I think he described the way the world saw him when actually he is describing how he feels.

Physical or Chemical Change

A.I.M: Exploring if it's a chemical or physical change!

Hypothesis- Explosion = Chemical Change

Equipment- Sample of ZnO (zinc oxide)
-Heat Source
-Scales
-Heat Proof Container- Evaporating dish
-Tongs
-Heat Proof Mat

Method-
1. Get a sample of ZnO in an evaporating dish
2. Weigh the ZnO & Container - Record Weight
3. Heat Container & ZnO on a hot plate

4. Observe any changes- use phones for before and after photos (video?)
5. Take off the heat and put on a heatproof mat
6. Let Cool - Observe - Photos
7. Re Weigh

Results- What Happened? - It weighed 57 Grams in the beginning and it didn't change after we heated it.
Conclusion- The colour changed slightly into a yellow theme and the smell started changing, altogether it was a physical change because it could turn back into its original form.

ZnO (zinc oxide) is a white powder that is insoluble in water. It is used as an additive in many different materials and products including cosmetics, food supplements, rubbers, plastics, glass and lubricants ETC.

How can ZnO help us?
Zinc Oxide can help us by producing sunscreen which
preventing sunburn and can reflect heat away from the object or thing that uses the sunscreen (ZnO).

The Film, 'Treaty of Waitangi What Really Happened';
Directed By: Peter Burger

Is about the signing of one of our founding documents. It is a dramatisation of the days leading up to the signing. We know this through the chiefs arguing, discussing and eventually signing the treaty, we know the film is about the treaty because the events inside of the film are based on history. The title of the video describes that it is almost exactly what happened inside of Waitangi at that point in time. and also the Narration / Voiceover that tells the story and describes it in more depth (including Chiefs names).

Treaty Of Waitangi - What Really Happened

Text Title: Treaty Of Waitangi
Text Type: Bilingual and Article

Text Creator: William Hobson
Text Purpose: To tell the story of the treaty of Waitangi in more depth

Date: 12/02/2021

Summary:

The British thought in depth about the Treaty and was expecting the Māori to accept the treaty and the rules that were set out by the British. The Treaty had some of the following rules: Māori gives the crown an exclusive right to buy their lands, and in return are granted full ownership of their lands, forests, fisheries and other possessions and Māori are given the rights and privileges of the British.

Arguments started forming after the treaty was heard about and started discussing between each other whether or not they should sign the treaty, because the
Māori were concerned about their land, people rights being taken away.

The
Māori Chiefs signed the Treaty and around 530 chiefs signed the treaty at the end, There was still a lot of chiefs that did not sign it but it was enough. Some chiefs like Hono Heke wanted to be at the top of the treaty to prove that they are more powerful than the rest.

After all chiefs signed the treaty they were granted nice blankets and tobacco for each chief then they went separate ways

Cyber security

Today we learned about Cybersecurity and the ways to keep yourself safe on the internet. We watched this video-   https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bPVaOlJ6ln0&feature=emb_title  And reflected upon what we learned and the information it taught us about Cyber Safety. Our task was to write about the main points, Applications or Careers, that the video informed us about. Something that I wrote about was Saftey and Passwords, The information that the video gave me made me realise that hackers can get into accounts by the click of a button if the password or pin is simple, so you need a password more advance and that is why in some sites it tells you to put atleast one capital letter and number in, so then hackers will never get into reach of it.

Here is my work that was created based around Cyber Security-
