What is a Haiku poem?
It is of ancient Japanese origin. It contains 17 syllables in 3 lines of five, seven, five. Haiku poems are typically about nature and usually about a specific season.
Example:
Like crunchy cornflakes
Gold leaves rustle underfoot
Beauty in decay.
Mellow, mild, Mayday,
calling children out to play.
Summer's on her way!
Coolness fills the air
Scarves and sweaters everywhere
Fall weather is here
Calm as a river
Tranquillity in my heart
Blue summer skies reign.
